Bristol Museum & Art Gallery has 20 galleries over three floors with a diverse range of objects. Discover world-class collections from dinosaurs and gems to magnificent fine art and Egyptian artefacts. A Teacher’s dream!
We have received a very large number of requests from schools and groups to visit either Bristol Museum & Art Gallery or M Shed during Terms 1 and 2. We are dealing with these as quickly as possible, however, due to very limited capacity because of the on-going pandemic, we may not be able to offer everyone a visit slot.
We will send instructions for your visit and a Covid-19 Risk Assessment with your booking confirmation – please read all of this carefully and make sure everyone in your group is aware of the safety information.
ALL groups of 10 or more need to book a visit to our museums in advance through the Learning team. Please DO NOT try and book groups through the general visitor online tickets, as these will be cancelled. Do remember to bring a copy of your booking confirmation with you when you visit.
Contact us to book your visit – simply fill in our enquiry form below. All group visits of 10+ people must be booked in advance. This applies to both independent visits and paid or facilitated sessions.

Eating at the museum
The only space in the museum where groups can eat and drink is in our lunch room on the first floor. There’s room for one group of up to 40 children and adults at a time. Free use is included if you’ve booked a museum-led session on your visit. If you’re making an independent visit, contact us to book this space (subject to availability) for only £1 per pupil.
Our Visitor Services staff will show you where you can leave coats and bags. If you’ve booked one of our sessions, a Museum Educator will meet you.
You are welcome to take photographs. We’d love you to share pictures of your school trip with us on social media.
Should you need to cancel or make changes to a school booking please refer to our help page, under cancellations and refunds.
