Latest news

Due to unprecedented demand, we are now FULLY BOOKED for all workshops at Bristol Museum & Art Gallery until the end of the academic year. There are very few slots left for any independent visits to Bristol Museum & Art Gallery and M Shed. Please contact us for any late availability  – we’re sorry that we can’t guarantee we will be able to book you in to visit.

We are taking bookings for Terms 1 & 2 (September to December 2022).

We will send instructions for your visit and a Covid-19 Risk Assessment with your booking confirmation – please read all of this carefully and make sure everyone in your group is aware of the safety information.

Group visits

Contact us to book your visit – simply fill in our enquiry form below. All groups of 10 or more need to book a visit to our museums in advance. This applies to both independent visits and paid or facilitated sessions.

*(please note that there is a booking fee of £35 per class for schools with pupils under 16 years of age intending to visit either the Grayson’s Art Club or Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibitions. This booking fee guarantees a specific date and time for your visit, and includes all admission charges. Normal admission fees apply to groups with adults and students aged 16+).

Eating at the museum

The only space in the museum where groups can eat and drink is in our lunch room on the first floor. There’s room for one group of up to 40 children and adults at a time. Free use is included if you’ve booked a museum-led session on your visit. If you’re making an independent visit, contact us to book this space (subject to availability) for only £1 per pupil.

On arrival

Our Visitor Services staff will show you where you can leave coats and bags. If you’ve booked one of our sessions, a Museum Educator will meet you.

You are welcome to take photographs. We’d love you to share pictures of your school trip with us on social media.
