Art: Every picture tells a story

Discover the link between myths, legends, folk tales and great pieces of art. Use role-play and your senses to investigate stories in paintings. Learn specialist art vocabulary, handle artists’ tools and compare how paintings were created.

Pupils will:

  • Discover the stories behind paintings– including Briar Rose and Noah’s Ark
  • Role-play scenes and discuss characters’ thoughts and feelings
  • Investigate painting techniques, tools and materials
  • Ask relevant questions to extend their understanding and knowledge
  • Use their senses to explore paintingsA young boy studying an object with pencil in hand
  • Compare and contrast art from the 15th to the 21st centuries
  • Learn art vocabulary
  • Prepare and perform a group presentation

Suitable for: Year 1 – 3
Duration: 1hr 15mins
Group size: Up to 35 pupils – you can book more than one session.

Session availability: We have two sessions available at 10.15am-11.30am and 11.45am-1pm. Further sessions may be available. Please ask.
