Loan box: How we used to live – the kitchen

Explore how we used to live with our new Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) themed loan boxes.

This box contains:

  • a cook’s apron & hat
  • two stoneware storage containers
  • a pastry tray
  • assorted kitchen utensils: sieve, rolling pin, wooden biscuit cutter, wooden spoons
  • a ceramic jelly mould
  • a copper food mould
  • pair of butter pats
  • a decorative food tin
  • a cast iron kettle
  • a Brown Betty teapot
  • small broom
  • information about each object and kitchens in the past

Please be aware that our loan boxes are usually only available for Bristol schools.  We sometimes lend them to schools in neighbouring authorities, subject to availability, so please contact us. Each loan box is collected from, and returned to, Bristol Museum & Art Gallery on a pre-arranged date and time agreed with the Learning Team.
