Loan box: How we used to live – seaside

Explore how we used to live with our new Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) themed loan boxes.

This box contains:

• a bucket & spade
• some pre-decimal money
• a seaside souvenir
• a penny lick
• a Box Brownie camera
• Punch & Judy glove puppets
• a straw boater
• a selection of shells
• a girl’s swimming costume
• a boy’s swimming costume
• information about each object and the seaside in the past

Please be aware that our loan boxes are usually only available for Bristol schools.  We sometimes lend them to schools in neighbouring authorities, subject to availability, so please contact us. Each loan box is collected from, and returned to, Bristol Museum & Art Gallery on a pre-arranged date and time agreed with the Learning Team.
