Workshop: Rocks and fossils

Can you spot a metamorphic from a sedimentary rock? Young geologists can investigate rocks and fossils in this hands-on workshop. Take part in fun geology activities to discover more about the rock cycle, volcanoes and plate tectonics.

Children will:

• Handle and investigate rocks, fossils and minerals
• Learn about and identify features of igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks
• Learn about the structure of our planet, tectonic plates and volcanoes
• Learn scientific geological terms

Suitable for: Years 3-6

Group size: Up to 35 pupils per class.

Duration: 60 minutes
