Wildlife Photographer of the Year 60

Returning to Bristol Museum & Art Gallery! 100 stunning photographs showcasing Earth’s extraordinary diversity and highlighting the fragility of wildlife on our planet.

The world-renowned exhibition, now in its sixtieth year and on loan from the Natural History Museum in London, will open at Bristol Museum & Art Gallery on Saturday 26 October, featuring exceptional images that capture fascinating animal behaviour, spectacular species and the breathtaking diversity of the natural world. Using photography’s unique emotive power to engage and inspire audiences, the images shine a light on stories and species around the world and encourage a future of advocating for the planet.

Established in 1965, it highlights exceptional talent worldwide. With 59,228 entries from 117 countries and territories all over the world, winning images are chosen for their creativity, originality and technical excellence by international experts.

Content warning: visitors may find some images distressing due to images of animal cruelty and animal death. If you prefer not to view this content, please steer clear of the ‘Photojournalism’ and ‘Photojournalist Story Award’ sections.

Please note: we are not selling any gift vouchers for the exhibition this year. You can pre-book and purchase tickets for specific dates in advance if you wish. Please also note that any gift vouchers bought via our online shop are for redemption in our gift shops only and are not redeemable against exhibition tickets.

With thanks

Access information

This exhibition is in the exhibition gallery on the ground floor. There is a wheelchair-accessible lift from the entrance lobby to the ground floor, and level access to the gallery entrance. The gallery itself is step-free, but there is a small ramp at the entrance turnstile. The exhibition will feature one slide show of images and a low-volume ambient audio soundscape, but will not feature any flashing lights. Please ask the staff on duty if you have concerns or need support.

Every Wednesday morning from 10am to 12 noon, we will switch off the soundscape and raise light levels for visitors who might prefer to see the exhibition in this way. Large print guides are available at all times. An audio description will be available from the end of November.
