Young People

We offer an amazing programme aimed at young people aged 8-25.

We use the museum collections and spaces to engage and inspire young people to explore, question, develop new skills and be creative.

We also work with partner organisations to complement and support your programmes and projects to develop young people’s skills, confidence and love of culture, and arrange tours of our galleries and behind the scenes.

Find out more about how to get involved in the Young Collective and Young Archaeologists’ Club below.

Young Collective

Our Young Collective is an advisory board of 10 young people aged 18-25 or up to 30 with Learning Difficulties or Disabilities. The young people are paid members who are passionate about making culture more inclusive and bring a fresh voice to museum discussions. Together we explore the collections, contribute to museum decision making and plan and deliver exciting projects for other young people.

We meet regularly on the first Wednesday of every month from 6-8pm at either Bristol Museum & Art Gallery or M Shed.

You can read about our projects on our blog.

To apply to be part of the Young Collective please fill out the online application form. We welcome applications from those from Global Majority ethnicity groups, low income households and who are Disabled or Neurodivergent.

For more information or alternative ways to apply please get in touch with Annette Dodd-Johns. You can email Annette or call, text or WhatsApp 07741 099 367.

Young Archaeologists’ Club

For 8-16 year olds, we hold the Bristol and Bath Young Archaeologists’ Club – for behind the scenes tours, getting hands on with finds, investigating archaeological sites, trying out traditional crafts, taking part in fieldwork, and much more.
