We use the museum collections and spaces to engage and inspire young people to explore, question, develop new skills and be creative.
This includes being part of our vibrant Young Collective which brings a fresh voice to museum discussions and puts on events aimed at attracting other young people to our museums.
We also work with partner organisations to complement and support your programmes and projects to develop young people’s skills, confidence and love of culture, and arrange tours of our galleries and behind the scenes.
Our partners include Creative Youth Network; Freedom Youth; Rising Arts Agency; Rife Mag; Young Bristol; Knowle West Media Centre; Learning Partnership West; Babbasa; Bristol Plays Music and Ujima FM.

Bristol through the eyes of young people
We’re launching a new museum display on what it’s like to be young in Bristol. Find out how you can get involved on our blog.
Our Young Collective, formerly known as the Youth Panel is a group of alumni from young people’s projects and engagement activities aged 19-25. We meet regularly to explore the collections, contribute to museum decision making and plan and deliver exciting events for other young people. This includes Young Exhibition Producers (Leonardo), TST Legacies, Uncomfortable Truths and some from partner organisations such as Babbasa and Rising Arts.
There are 24 young people in the wider group, with about 12 attending the session each month. We meet on the first Wednesday of every month 5-7pm. We have had 2 sessions at M Shed and 1 at Bristol Museum and Gallery, as well as an extra ‘visioning’ and Q&A session with Jon Finch – Head of Culture and Creative Industries.
You can read what our previous Youth Panel got up to and what the current Youth Collective did with the Uncomfortable Truths project on our blogs:

For 8-16 year olds, we hold the Bristol and Bath Young Archaeologists’ Club – for behind the scenes tours, getting hands on with finds, investigating archaeological sites, trying out traditional crafts, taking part in fieldwork, and much more.
