Home Educator workshop: Discover Arts Award in a day – Constable in Bristol

Join us for a day of art inspired by the Constable in Bristol: Truth to Nature exhibition and achieve an Arts Council England ‘Discover’ level Arts Award along the way!

Discover amazing art by John Constable and explore Bristol Museum’s own permanent collection, find out about artists and their work, create some amazing art of your own, and then share what you have created.

Children will have the chance to experience a British masterpiece on display in Bristol. This is a rare opportunity to see a classic piece of art on loan from the National Gallery, London.

During this workshop you will:

  • Visit the Constable in Bristol: Truth to Nature exhibition to see  paintings by John Constable
  • Explore Bristol Museum & Art Gallery to find out about artists and their work
  • Discuss picture composition and techniques
  • Discover the stories behind artworks
  • Experiment with art materials
  • Learn specialist art vocabulary
  • Create an artwork inspired by what you’ve seen
  • Share your artwork digitally and with each other
  • Achieve a ‘Discover level Arts Award and certificate

 

Suitable for: Home Educated children 7-11 years
Duration: 4 hours
Group size: 15 children.  Maximum of one adult per child

 

More about Arts Council England’s Arts Award scheme

Arts Award Discover is the introductory award open to children and young people aged up to 25.

To achieve Discover level, children and young people discover the arts around them, find out about artists and their work and share their experiences with others, gaining a certificate at the end.

This award provides a great introduction to the arts and to other Arts Award levels.
