Photo of a kermit the frog soft toyThe days are drawing in, Christmas is getting closer and children everywhere are dreaming of what toys Father Christmas might bring them.

With a touch of festive time travel, do you remember what you once hoped to find under the tree on Christmas morning? Were you dreaming of Lego, Scalextric, or the Millennium Falcon? Or was it Andy Pandy, The Muppets, or Care Bears?

Bristol Museums have some great examples of older toys and now we’re hoping to find some of the must-have toys from the last 60 years to bring the collections up to date. If your childhood toys are packed away in your attic and looking for a new home then we’d love to hear from you.

We’re looking for any toy that was played with or bought in Bristol, and if it was much-loved with a story or two to tell then that’s even better!

We’re also keen to find any merchandise or toys from popular children’s television shows, and to hear about your favourites and what they meant to you. Your old toy could even be shown in an exhibition at M Shed next summer!

Please get in touch with Catherine or Helen in our Social History team, we’d love to hear from you:
