Did you know that we have a charity?

Bristol Museums Development Trust is an independent charity that raises funds for our museums and archives. These funds are used to conserve our collections and historic buildings and to support learning and community activities.

This year Bristol Museums Development Trust will be taking part in Giving Tuesday on 3 December, a global initiative that encourages people to think about causes that matter to them and how they can support them.

We will be telling stories about how the additional funding we secure through the Trust are used to support our Bristol community.

Thanks to donations through our on-site donation boxes, Bristol Museums Development Trust is able to continue to fund Art Shed, an arts and health project that provides workshops for people experiencing anxiety and depression. Evaluation of participants showed a marked decrease in feelings of negativity and an overall increase in well-being.

Your donations have also been crucial in helping us maintain our historic railways and docklands. Donations have enabled us to carry out major refurbishment works to our Henbury locomotive, as well as create a purpose-built maintenance bay.

Henbury has been part of Bristol Harbour Railway for over 40 years and thanks to your generosity it will continue to be a part of it for future generations!

We will be sharing more stories about how your support has helped us increase access to our museums in the coming days via our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts.

Please feel free to share these and help us shout about some of the wonderful things happening at our museums!

As well as popping cash in our donations boxes, you can also donate online. Your support makes a big difference. Thanks for thinking of us this Giving Tuesday.
