Call for artists working with audio

Create a soundscape for an exhibition at Bristol Museum & Art Gallery.

We’re looking for an artist or group for a small audio commission. The audio will respond to a painting in our forthcoming Pre-Raphaelites exhibition (16 May – 27 Sep 2020).

The exhibition explores how and why Pre-Raphaelite artists created a romanticised version of the Middle Ages and a vision of English tradition that stemmed from legend and fairytale as much as history.

The brief is to create a soundscape in response to Edward Burne-Jones’ painting The Garden Court, as part of a ‘sensory space’ that invites visitors into the world of the painting.

You may work with music, writing, theatre, live spoken word or with sound as a more experimental medium. You must have the capability to record and edit the audio as part of the commission.

Fee: £1,000
Closing date:
Midnight on 7 January 2020
