It’s been a while, but we’re delighted to announce that the popular behind-the-scenes tours of M Shed will be resuming in September.

Book a behind-the-scenes tour of M Shed on our website.

Numbers will be restricted and members of the public will be required to wear face masks. It might be possible to join a tour on the day if there are spaces, but it’s advisable to book. If you are unable to book online, you can call 0117 352 6600.

The guided tours run at 11:30am on Tuesdays to Fridays, with an additional tour at 3pm on Wednesdays. Each tour lasts approximately 45 minutes.

Like many museums, Bristol has more in its collections than can ever be displayed at once. The store at M Shed contains thousands of items from the city’s social, industrial and maritime past. Our trained volunteer guides will tell you the stories behind some of these, according to their own perspectives and interests. And they will cater to your interests too. No two tours are alike.

So go behind the scenes to see what’s not on display: huge machinery, delicate models and intriguing objects of all shapes and sizes.

Tours are accessible for wheelchair users with the exception of one small mezzanine section.

Admission is free and donations are very welcome!
