Home Educator activity: Geology Store tours
Home Educated children have an amazing opportunity to see ‘behind the scenes’ and visit the geology stores with Deborah Hutchinson, our Natural Sciences curator.
Our curator will show you rocks, minerals and fossils in the museum’s collections; make links to local geology and talk about the huge variety of research being done using these objects.
You will also spend time in our learning space where you can handle and look closely at lots more specimens, and there will be a chance to find out about different kinds of rocks, ask questions and to sketch.
Due to very limited capacity the store tours are for students only. Their accompanying adult is welcome to take part in the workshop session. We regret that we cannot accommodate siblings nor additional adults.
We have two sessions available: 12.30pm -1.45pm and 2pm – 3.15pm
Suitable for students 12-17 years.
