Step into history this Halloween at the Red Lodge for a week of spine-tingling stories and exploration.
Perfect for families with children aged 6-9, this enchanting event will immerse you in the rich history of one of Bristol’s most intriguing historical houses, where the past comes alive—quite literally!
As you wander through the dimly lit halls, you’ll encounter the lingering spirits of former residents. But don’t worry, this isn’t a horror house full of frights and jump scares. Instead, our friendly ghosts will guide you on a journey through time, sharing tales of their lives and the history of the house.
You can meet:
- Sir John Young, Elizabethan gentleman, first owner of the Red Lodge and host to Queen Elizabeth I
- Annie Woolham, a young Victorian girl and early resident of the Red Lodge Reform School
- Mary Henley, a Georgian lady who modernised the Red Lodge and turned it into a home
This event is a delightful way to introduce young ones to the magic of Halloween with a creative activity helping our characters create a Gods Eye. Come dressed in your favourite costumes, ready to explore, learn, and make memories in the most atmospheric house in Bristol.
Don’t miss out on this unique Halloween experience where history haunts the halls!
Please note: There is no general entry to the Red Lodge during Spooky Week between Saturday 26 October to Saturday 2 November. The museum will reopen for general entry visits from Sunday 3 November.
