Home Educator workshop: Bristol at war – the Home Front
Join us for an immersive, activity-packed workshop looking at everyday life on the Home Front during World War Two. Investigate the events of 24 November 1940 when Bristol city centre was blitzed and a quarter of its historic buildings were destroyed.
During the workshop you will:
- Learn about the Bristol Blitz
- Understand why the war saw such a great movement of people and how Bristol was involved
- Handle and study real and replica objects, images and documents to reveal stories about Bristol and the Home Front
Suitable for: Home Educated children 8-12 years (maximum of one accompanying adult per booking).
Duration: 90 minutes
We encourage children and adults to come dressed in clothes that match the styles worn in the 1940s:
Boys/men: a flat cap, shorts or trousers, braces, plain shirt, a wool jumper or waistcoat
Girls: a simple dress or a blouse and skirt
Women: a dress or a skirt and blouse with a cardigan and hat
