LGBTQIAP+ tour of the museum

LGBTQIAP+ people (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning, intersex, asexual, pansexual) have always been here, across time, across spaces and across cultures.

On this tour of the museum, led by queer historian Jack Shoulder, you will discover some of the incredible LGBTQIAP+ stories, histories and connections in the rich and surprising collections at Bristol Museum and Art Gallery.

The tour offers insights from the natural history world, fine art and history ranging from Ancient Egypt to the present day.

Jack Shoulder, tour guide

Jack has worked with some of the biggest names in heritage in the UK to make history more accessible to everyone. He has developed LGBTQIAP+ tours of the V&A, London, Towner Art Gallery in Eastbourne and created LGBTQIA+ resources for English Heritage.

He is the brains behind Museum Bums along with fellow history buff, Mark Small. Together, they take a cheeky look at bottoms depicted in art across the world as a celebration and lasting impression. Their book, Museum Bums, is available to purchase from our shop.
