Christmas at the Red Lodge

What was Christmas like 400 years ago?

Experience the sounds and smells of an Elizabethan Christmas, complete with food, music, decorations and a special display of a spectacular sugar craft banquet.

Hear the story of an imagined banquet at the Lodge in the 1600s told through the re-enactors Colonel Nicholas Devereuxs Regiment of the English Civil War Society who will be in period dress.

Musician Simon Pickard will play and talk about the instruments of the Elizabethan age and the Bristol Embroiderers’ Guild will be running a special family activity suitable for all ages.

Make a stitched Christmas decoration of your choice using beautiful material and accessories. Add embellishments such as buttons, beads and ribbon to give your creation the festive touch.

You can also hear about the Bristol Embroiderers’ Guild programme of monthly talks, workshops and involvement in National Projects.
