Wallace & Gromit from the drawing board

Wallace & Gromit from the drawing board ran from 24 May to 7 September 2014 at M Shed, on the 25th anniversary of their first ever film release.

Over 30,000 visitors immersed themselves in the story making process of Aardman’s award-winning Wallace & Gromit films in this cracking summer exhibition.

The exhibition had a home developed by Aardman, especially for M Shed. There was information about how the funny storylines are created, what inspires their Bristol based makers and how the much loved characters have developed over time.

On display were instantly recognisable film sets, Nick Park’s notebook, the actual ‘rocket’ from a Grand Day Out and a real Oscar®, as well as lots of objects and contraptions from the museums’ own collections.

Wallace & Gromit from the drawing board was especially created for M Shed by Aardman Animations and Cod Steaks – the company behind many of the Aardman sets you see on screen.

Merlin Crossingham, Creative Director of Wallace & Gromit at Aardman Animations kindly wrote us a guest blog – have a read: Behind the scenes with Wallace & Gromit’s Creative Director.

Below are some photos of the exhibition. If you have some pictures of it you’d like to share, we’d love to see them! Share them with us on Twitter: @mshedbristol  #WallaceandGromitMShed
