School loan box: Bristol and the Transatlantic Traffic in Enslaved Africans
Our Bristol and the Transatlantic Traffic in Enslaved Africans loan box brings the museum to your school. We’ve carefully selected real and replica objects from our collections to enable your students to understand more about this part of our history.
Objects relate to West African culture, trade links between Europe and Africa, life on the plantation, the abolition movement, and legacies.
Encourage your class to work in groups to investigate the objects and discuss what they reveal about attitudes in the past and in the modern world.
Suitable for: Year 7-10
Please fill in our enquiry form and we’ll be in touch shortly to discuss your loan. Please be aware that our loan boxes are usually only available for Bristol schools. We sometimes lend them to schools in neighbouring authorities, subject to availability, so please contact us. We regret that we do not deliver or collect loan boxes.
