Winter Lecture: Our Life with Birds

Lloyd Buck and his wife Rose have devoted their lives to taking care of birds and over the last 25 years they have mastered the art of capturing them on film. They are, without a doubt, the world’s experts at tracking birds and in-flight filming.

Between them Lloyd and Rose have been involved with over 100 different productions and feature films and have worked with every natural history television star including Sir David Attenborough, Steve Backshall, Michaela Strachan, Chris Packham, Kate Humble and many more.

They often appear on camera themselves and are frequent guests on BBC’s The One Show and the popular Autumnwatch and Springwatch programmes.

From Tilly the golden eagle to Poppy the pigeon it’s unusual to find Lloyd without one of his feathered family under his arm.

“Looking after our birds is not just our career and job, it is a lifestyle. We have to be there for them seven days a week, but we love it”.

Lloyd believes that the key behind the tricky task of working with and training birds is having a deep respect and an incredibly close bond with them; getting to know each bird as an individual.

Join Lloyd for an unforgettable evening to hear about his life’s work filming with his birds. Ask Lloyd about the challenges he has faced and even get to meet a couple of his feathered film-stars!
