Summer walk: Bristol’s tobacco past and anti-tobacco present

Join Cecilia Farren, Founder of GASP, for a summer walk to find out how Bristol has been home to ‘Big Tobacco’ for almost 250 years.

Imperial Group which has its HQ in Bristol is one of the top five tobacco companies in the world.  But for nearly 40 years it has also been home to many pioneer anti-tobacco campaigns.

The walk will look at the rise of Bristol’s tobacco industry and the high profile campaigns that have successfully challenged this killer product.

The walk will start from outside the Marriot Hotel, Lower Castle St, BS1 3AD, opposite Castle Park.

Tickets are free but must be booked in advance. Donations welcome.

All Summer Walks take place on the second Wednesday of the month between June and September and last approximately one and a half hours. The Summer Walks are sponsored by the Friends of Bristol Museums, Galleries & Archives.
