Lunchtime talk: New Chinese ceramics and glass

Enter the enchanted glass forest, imagine the twitter of birds in the porcelain garden.

Join Eastern Art curator Kate Newnham and explore recent acquisitions of contemporary Chinese ceramics and glass in the Eastern Art Gallery in this lunchtime talk.

Since 2014 the museum has raised funds for or been given 16 contemporary Chinese ceramic and glass artworks that create a new dialogue with Bristol’s world class historic Chinese collections.

Funding has come from the Art Fund, the ACE/V&A Purchase Grant for the Regions and the Friends of Bristol Art Gallery and Simon Baker. In addition gifts have come directly from Chinese artists in recognition of the importance of Bristol’s collection.

A selection of these works will be on display in the Eastern Art galleries in 2017 and the lunchtime talk will be an opportunity to discuss them with the curator.

Designed to fit around your lunch hour, our lunchtime talks explore a selection of treasures from our exhibitions and collections.
