Lunchtime talk: Japanese Dolls Festival

The sculptors in Being Human were interested in the Asian art they saw in the British Museum and brought ideas they found there into their own work.

Bristol has a large collection of Japanese objects. To coincide with the Japanese Dolls Festival, find out about this annual celebration in Japan and the customs around displaying these silk-clad imperial figures with their lacquer furniture.

Designed to fit around your lunch hour, our lunchtime talks explore a selection of treasures from our exhibitions and collections.
