Lunchtime talk: Highlights from our European glass collection

Bristol has a long history of glassmaking. By the end of the 1600s tall glass cones had become an iconic feature of the city’s skyline. During the following century the glass industry in Bristol flourished.

Craftsmen in the city made a wide range of products. These included window glass, bottles, lead glass and coloured glass, for example the so-called ‘Bristol Blue’.

This talk will introduce the history of glassmaking in Bristol and look at some of the highlights from our collection.
