Kate Malone grew up in Bristol and discovered her passion for pottery as a student at Henbury School.
She went on to become one of the UK’s most celebrated ceramic artists and a co-presenter of The Great Pottery Throw Down.
In this talk, Kate will discuss her work in three areas with clay – decorative arts, large scale public projects and glaze research.
Hand skills are at the core of the way she works, conveying a sense of pleasure in materials and transmitting symbolic optimism is her objective.
Part of the programme of events for Radical Clay: Teaching with the greatest potters of the 1960s.
The events programme is supported by Bristol Museums Development Trust using funds donated by museum visitors.
