How do you ‘read’ a painting?
This one day workshop deconstructs St Luke Drawing the Virgin and Child by Dieric Bouts to reveal some of its hidden messages.
After an introduction to the painting, we will discuss the ‘rules’ followed by Bouts and his contemporaries.
There will be short presentations and practical activities exploring topics including symbolism, colour and perspective.
No prior knowledge required. This fun and interactive introduction to Art History is particularly suitable for KS1 or KS2 teachers who would like to find out more about using paintings for cross-curricular activities in school.
