Bristol Open Doors Day: Bristol Museum & Art Gallery

Museum staff will take you behind the scenes through the labyrinth of stores and labs, explaining the history of the building and what we do along the way.

Please book at the front desk on the day. There are limited places on each tour. Bookings will be taken on a first come, first served basis. Please note that the routes include stairs.

The full tour

The full tour takes in the Front Hall, the collection stores, conservation labs, Crush Hall, design and learning studio and all the offices around the front balcony. Tours last 90 minutes and there are quite a few stairs!

Times of the full tour

  • 10.45am – 12.15pm
  • 12.45pm – 2.15pm
  • 2.45pm – 4.15pm

Conservation and collection tours

Tours to the conservation studios and tours to the collection stores (Archaeology, World Cultures, Applied Art, Biology, Fine Art and Geology) will take place alternatively. Tours last 45 minutes.

Times of the conservation tour

  • 10.45am – 11.30am
  • 2.45pm – 3.30pm

Times of the collection store tour

  • 12pm – 12.45pm
  • 4pm – 4.45pm
