Join us at Bristol Museum & Art Gallery for a melodious flight into the world of birdsong.
Artist Andy Holden and his ornithologist father Peter Holden will kick off the evening with a performative lecture, with musical accompaniment by Roger Illingworth.
Andy is an artist and his father Peter is an ornithologist, and together they present the ingenuity and diversity of birdsong. Including field recordings, film archives and museum collections, their work is a fruitful collaboration between art and science, father and son.
The second part of the evening will consist of a performance by David Rothenberg.
David Rothenberg is a professor of music as well as a composer, jazz clarinetist and author of ‘Why Birds Sing’. He specialises in the relationship between art and the natural world and his solo clarinet performance will emulate the unique rhythms of birdsong, making use of the sublime acoustics of Bristol Museum.
Presented by Bristol Museum & Art Gallery and University of Bristol.
