Changing Perspectives: Nairobi past and present – A photographic history

A new exhibition exploring Nairobi through evocative modern images alongside historic photographs from the British Empire & Commonwealth Collection.

The display includes ten images of Nairobi in the 1950s by Charles Trotter. Trotter worked as a professional photographer in Kenya.

Each image has a corresponding response taken by contemporary Kenyan photographer Chao Tayiana.

The exhibition is part of the University of Bristol’s Building Shared Futures project. The project is a collaboration with Bristol Archives, University of Nairobi, Technical University of Kenya, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology and National Museums of Kenya.

The images are also currently on display at the National Museums of Kenya in Nairobi.
