What’s on your mantelpiece?

Posted on by Fay Curtis.

During the month of May we’re after photos of your mantelpiece for Bristol At Home. The project is all about collecting your pictures so that future generations can get a glimpse into how we live in Bristol today.

Check out #BristolAtHome on Twitter and tweet us your pics – they could become part of Bristol Museums, Galleries & Archives’ collections. And of course, don’t forget to follow Blaise Castle House Museum!

To inspire you, here are a few items from our collections which might have graced the mantelpieces of the past:

Photograph of a porcelain spaniel

This lovely porcelain spaniel is one of a pair.

Image of a model depicting a pair of orphans

This is a pair of orphans from the Muller home which is now City of Bristol College. We have a bonnet just like this one in the collection!

Photograph of a porcelain rabbit

This rabbit was made by Bristol pottery firm Pountney and is on display at M Shed.
