Our exhibition space is in the middle of a young people’s takeover! 25 Below is taking place throughout August, offering a mind-boggling variety of free creative workshops and events for 14-25 year olds – as well as a space to exhibit the wonderful work they produce.

Origami birdThe first week was an explosion of creativity. Rife Magazine ran a fantastic two-day GIFs, memes, and animations workshop, the results of which you can see in our Moving Image gallery. The young artist Anum Rizvi also came in and worked with young people to build a massive 3D sculpture. The exhibition space started out as a blank slate, but in just a week the young people at these workshops have transformed it into something completely different.

Of course, there’s plenty more to come. The second week of the programme is in full swing, starting with Monday’s paper engineering and origami workshop. Throughout the day, the friendly folks at Young Bristol invited young people to drop in and design huge paper tapestries and sculpture. They even left some art supplies and instructions, so that anyone can add to their work. Drop in anytime and help us fill the gallery.

Young Bristol came back for more on Tuesday 16 August with a ’zine making workshop. As they explored the museum through collage, typography and illustration, participants learned new skills and developed new ways to make their ideas “pop” and contributed to some vibrant Bristol Museum ’zines, which you can see in the exhibition space anytime.
