Meet the thatcher of Blaise dairy

This summer our dairy is being re-thatched.

If you’d like to see the thatching underway and ask the thatcher about his craft we have two open days taking place on 27 July and 2 August.

We are using water reed as this is the same as the old thatch.

The Dairy is listed Grade II* by Historic England. This means it is a particularly important building, of special architectural and historic interest.

When making repairs to listed buildings we need to match what is already there, preserving the special character of the building.

The work should be complete in around five weeks.
