Bristol’s Brilliant Archaeology: online and onsite

Blaise Museum and a whole host of local societies, heritage organisations, re-enactors and field archaeologists are once again bringing archaeology to you for Bristol’s Brilliant Archaeology.

There’s 16 whole days of archaeology programmed throughout the festival. Join us for a tea-time talk, archaeological walks and family-friendly festival fun sessions.

Explore local archaeological sites across our social media platforms and take a virtual 360 tour of some of the places that aren’t usually open. Delve into the latest archaeological digs with our digital dig Instagram stories and learn how to do your own archaeological research in our new Bristol Archaeology Source Guide.

Create archaeological craft, find out about about local sites and meet our re-enactor friends in a special series of short films. Or check out online puzzles and other festival fun on Bristol’s Brilliant Archaeology busy board!

And finally, it wouldn’t be Bristol’s Brilliant Archaeology without a teddy or two. This year we are asking you to take your ted to a local place and send us a snap. Anywhere with an archaeological or historical connection will do – think ancient earthworks, old churches, crumbling castles, historic houses and rambling ruins.

Keep checking this page and follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for regular updates. The online material will go live throughout the festival period. Talks, walks and family sessions are now open for booking.

Bristol’s Brilliant Archaeology is part of the Festival of Archaeology, the UK’s biggest celebration of archaeology.
