A Victorian Christmas for Home Educating Families

Explore the traditions and customs of Victorian Christmas through a series of interactive role-play activities.

Children will:

  • Handle real and replica Victorian artefacts
  • Create a Christmas decoration to take home
  • Learn about traditional Victorian Christmas meals and identify the different spices used in cooking
  • Learn the significance of, and practise singing, Victorian carols

Suitable for: Ages 5–8 years
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Group size: Up to 15 children

Session availability: We have one session available from 11am-12.30pm.

Cost: £7 per child – please book in advance

Additional information

Please meet us at the museum front entrance five minutes before the session starts.

If you arrive late please let museum staff know, so you can be shown where to find the workshop.

Sorry, but there is no eating or drinking allowed in the workshop room or the museum.
