At home with the Harfords: Victorian Life

Join ‘Acting Out’ for a dramatic exploration of Victorian life at Blaise House.  Find out how people lived, worked and had fun in a Victorian stately home.

This exciting drama-led workshop takes children on a journey of discovery, stepping back in time to become the people that once might have worked and lived in this house. With improvisation, games and imaginative role play, as well as the use of props and real artefacts, children will engage in a fun museum experience.  In turn they will develop a better understanding of life both upstairs and downstairs during Victorian times.

Children will:

  • Work with professional drama provider, Acting Out, on imaginative and fun drama activities using real objects and props.
  • Step back in time to find out about the life of Victorian servants and the families they worked for
  • Enjoy and take part in Victorian entertainments
  • Handle real historic objects, find out how to use them and what they reveal about life in the past
