Conservation

Our Conservation team looks after all the items in our collections so that they can be displayed for you to see, enjoy, and experience.

We preserve and restore paintings, works of art on paper, and objects ranging from archaeological finds to steam engines and everything in between.  Our conservators carefully clean them and repair damages, and also protect them by preventing further damage or deterioration.

Conservation work can also reveal hidden secrets or long-lost information about our objects.
Our aim is to make sure that all our amazing collections can be enjoyed far into the future as well as by you today.
