For the past few months, we’ve been creating our new learning programme to support the revised National Curriculum for Key Stage 2. The Tudors and Victorians have moved over a little to make room for newcomers such as ‘Stone Age to Iron Age’ and ‘Evolution’. The amount of content for every subject makes you feel like you’re on a six term rollercoaster.

But learning isn’t about cramming your brain with facts; it’s about exploring ideas, being curious, posing questions, finding answers, making connections, thinking creatively and much, much more. So, sometimes, it’s good to slow down and take time to investigate a subject in more detail. From January, we’re providing schools with the opportunity to do just that.

Each month, we’re putting a different curriculum topic under the spotlight, starting with Stone Age to Iron Age in January 2015. Children will be able to handle stone tools made and used over 600,000 years ago, follow our daily tweets about life in prehistoric Britain and share their creative interpretation of the mysterious carvings on the Pool Farm Cist Slab. During February the spotlight falls on Bristol’s Wild Life, when you can send us photos of wildlife in your school to win wildlife goodies and meet a wildlife expert. Personally, I can’t wait for March when the museum will be in the grips of Egyptomania!

Contact us to find out more about our January spotlight on Stone Age to Iron Age. To receive all the latest news about which topics are under the spotlight during 2015, sign-up to our Teacher’s newsletter.
